Been turning up your laptop volume every Monday at 8:00pm? Yeah, that's the sweet sound of Jam and Toast you've been listening to. Gia Squitieri is the DJ behind all that noise- she's a NYC native and WJHU newbie. A psycology major and lover of teen angst, it's easy to see why she's worth tuning into:

Hey Gia- let's start with the basics. What's story behind the name of your show?:

It’s a terrible play on the word "jam" (as in jam session).

How long has your show been on WJHU?:

I just joined radio!

What music do you typically play on your show?

The Strokes, The Virgins, anything from Cult Records, Julian Casablancas and the Voidz.

What radio stations do you listen to in Baltimore or at home?

At home, I listen to 101.7 (used to play amazing music) and Howard Stern.

What’s your favorite new release?

“Outcalls Only” by Donald Cumming. Not so new, but I’m still thrilled that he’s doing something after his band broke up.

Sum up your musical taste:

My taste is a little bit angsty and pretentious. Get ready to jam out  and self-pity when you listen to my show!

Make a set list for your funeral:

How pretentious is your radio show?:

Fairly pretentious.

Defend your favorite guilty pleasure music:

Ok, so I know Britney Spears is kinda talentless but it’s hard not to whine along to all her songs when I’m either very happy or very down. She’s surprisingly empathetic and you should try having a Britney Spears therapy session.

Tell us why your dad is disappointed in you:

Right now it’s because I wear hoop earrings, but I think his opinion will sink lower when he finds out about my belly button ring.
